Playa Tamarindo
Tamarindo is located on the north Pacific coast of Costa Rica. It is popular with American and Canadian tourists. It has a large beach with some rocky areas. There are good waves for surfing at the river estuary. Close to the town there is a wildlife refuge and a marine national park. Every year, from November to March, the leatherback turtles (baulas) nest here. A few guides offers tours to see the turtles without disturbing them. Tamarindo has many accommodations, but in the high season they are often full and it is recommended to reserve in advance.
