The currency of Costa Rica is the Colon. Except for some exceptions, e.g. public buses, you can
pay in Costa Rica also with dollars. However, usually you get Colones as change back. So it might be
easier to just pay with colones.

ATM's in Costa Rica
|
Costa Rica is very well supplied with automatic teller machines. You can also get money
with EC-Cards if the ATM has the "Maestro" indication. The fees for credit cards are
usually higher, than for EC-Cards. Depending on the bank, you can get cash in US dollars
or in Colones. The link to Visa or Mastercard shows you the locations of the ATM's in
Costa Rica.
